A powerful video for more women on construction sites

With a dynamic pace and sounds familiar to construction sites, real workers, both men and women, from the industry’s different trades perform the same actions and manoeuvres under identical conditions. These strong images, which highlight the presence of women on construction sites, drive home the fact that, woman or man, it’s the skills that count.

The capsule will be available on Facebook and everywhere on the Web in the coming weeks.

Added to the page are the most recent statistics on where women stand on construction sites and the concrete measures aimed at them. The page also highlights the 10 most widespread myths on construction sites.

Where women stand in the industry

Recently, the CCQ unveiled its Bilan 2017 du Programme d’accès à l’égalité des femmes dans l’industrie de la construction, assessing last year’s progress in the equal access program.

In the report, the CCQ’s CEO, Diane Lemieux, revealed that in 2017, “The number of women working on construction sites rose significantly, by 20%, to pass the milestone of 3,000 female workers. This is good news. With 500 women more than in 2016, their proportion made a significant leap, from 1.62% in 2016 to 1.91% in 2017. Of course, reaching the target of 3% women by the end of 2018 will be a challenge, but the growth effect is irreversible, sustained by an active and mobilized industry.”
