Explanation of the results of the information available in the tool for daily consultation of the state of the labour pools
Pool open

This means that there is a shortage – that is, the pool is open because under 5% of the holders of an apprentice or occupation competency certificate are available for the concerned region and trade or occupation. Only employers guaranteeing 150 hours of work over a period of 3 consecutive months may reserve a place when the pool is open.

Pool at under 10%

The pool is currently closed.

This information is shared so that interested people may prepare for a future opening of the pool.

What to do: Employers must wait until the pool is open to reserve a place.

Pool at 30% or under

The pool is currently closed. However, an access measure for women is offered when the pool is at 30% or under.

What to do: When the pool is at 30% or less, an employer guaranteeing a woman 150 hours of work over a period of 3 consecutive months must reserve a place for her. No request for a reservation is accepted before or after a pool is opened.

With the tool below, you can find out the complete state of a labour pool for a region and for a trade or occupation, for a given day.

  • It provides daily information on the state of the pools (open or closed), those at under 10%, and those at 30% or under (which enables you to reserve a place for a woman even when a labour pool is closed).

If a pool is open, a request for reservation of a place may be made on the date displayed.

  • It announces one week in advance the labour pools that will be open for a minimum of five working days starting on the date indicated in the file.
  • The state of the daily pools is available, as usual, on the eve of their opening through Alerte pénurie, according to the subscriber’s display parameters, or through the tool for daily consultation of the state of the labour pools.

No reservation of a place is accepted before the date indicated in the file.
