Registering with the CCQ
A contractor who does construction work falling under the Act Respecting Labour Relations, Vocational Training, and Workforce Management in the Construction Industry (Act R-20) must register with the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ).
For a construction company to be registered with the CCQ, the following information is required:
The company’s NEQ (numéro d’entreprise du Québec) if applicable;
The company’s status;
The contact information (name, address, telephone and fax numbers, etc.) of the company and the people who are responsible for it;
The contact information of the firm that does the accounting and fills out the company’s monthly reports, if applicable.
To register your company, simply fill out the form Registration of a company and return it to the CCQ office in your region. A fee of $350 applies.
Once the registration process is complete, the new employer will have access to the CCQ’s online services, the construction industry calendar, and the CCQ’s declaration of customer service. At all times, the employer will be able to consult the online employer’s guide.
When they register with the CCQ, employers are required to join the AECQ, to which all employers in the construction industry must belong.
The Act Respecting Labour Relations, Vocational Training, and Manpower Management in the Construction Industry (Act R-20) recognizes that a construction company may conduct its activities in two ways in the construction industry: with or without employees. It may act as an employer or as an independent contractor if it holds a licence in a specialized contractor category.
